We are a STEM Racing team from ISL Luxembourg, competing at the national level in the Tier 3 Finals, on the 23rd of May at 8:00 AM.
Tier 3 is designed to introduce teams to profesional engineering and team management. It also allows teams to experience national finals without the pressure of having to submit tonnes of work.
Tier 3 has some rules for the car's shape but not as strict as Tier 1. This Guidebook explains the way the competition will be run, what is required for Tier 3, the assessment procces, and the technical regulations of the car.
Tier 2 is designed to is designed to advance students from fundamental concepts to high-level engineering and complex project management.
Tier 2 cars are designed and created from a foam block. This foam block is carved using a CNC machine until it transforms into an aerodynamic car that's ready to win. Many strict rules direct the necessary elements of each car and team needed to compete. Additionally, each team needs to create a detailed process, and other documents to show their team dynamics and car development. This Guidebook explains the way the competition will be run, what is required for Tier 2, the assessment process, and the technical regulations of the car.
Tier 1 is designed to Tier 3 is designed to provide a rigorous, comprehensive STEM experience for advanced teams (typically students aged 11–19, often referred to as the Professional Class) looking to compete at the highest level, including Regional, National, and World Finals.
Tier 1 pushes the boundaries of engineering, manufacturing, and aerodynamics, simulating a real-world Formula 1 team environment to create the fastest and most advanced miniature car possible. This tier requires rigorous application of CAD/CAM software for design, CNC machining for manufacturing, and detailed project management to compete at regional, national, and world finals. This Guidebook explains the way the competition will be run, what is required for Tier 1, the assessment process, and the technical regulations of the car.
As of 2026, we are participating in Tier 3. Following this season we aim to build on our experience and progress to higher tiers.
